Ray Oldenburg, author of ‘The Great Good Place’ explains that people attach to three key places; their homes, their place of work and finally a place that helps them get through the day, in most cases a small community space such as a coffee shop.

Community, culture and attachment have been buzzwords in the field of psychology over the last 40 years; however until recently they have not been so prominent in the field of coffee shop design.

UK coffee culture is continuing to grow; although that’s not a surprise to anyone in the coffee industry. However, it is interesting how non-specialty businesses are gaining access to the profitable coffee consumers.
